These two. Their wedding day was pure magic. Stephen and Lauren met in college at Point Loma Nazarene University and have been inseparable ever since. Warm summer air filled the Mission Asistencia in Redlands while their love ones gathered to join them as they became husband and wife. Their love for one another radiated and you couldn't help but be filled with joy in their presence. Stephen and Lauren shared heartfelt vows, danced the night away under twinkle lights and it all ended in fireworks (literally). It was such a special day and I was truly honored to be there to capture this moment in time.
Where do I begin with these two. I first met Lauren & Nathan in a coffee shop and instantly I felt as if I had already known them a lifetime. These two together light up any room, and the love they share is contagious. Spend five minutes with them and you are sure to be laughing in no time.
When their special day arrived, my awesome second shooter Robby Cavanaugh and I headed out to the lovely venue of Oak Creek Ranch in Topanga, California. It was the perfect summer day, and the location couldn't of suited them better. Their friends gathered as they watched Lauren and Nathan say their I do's overlooking the beautiful Topanga Canyon. Nathan played his guitar and sang her the same song he had played on their first date, bringing all of their guests to tears, including myself. These two share a truly special kind of love that anyone who has spent any time with them is sure to attest to. They laughed, danced, smiled and were filled with whimsy the entire day. I left that night feeling truly honored that they picked me to help tell their love story.
How gorgeous is this girl?! Paige started off as a room mate that I had just met, and grew into one of my best friends. We spent the past year making daily trips to Peet's Coffee, popping late night popcorn and laughing to the tune of New Girl playing in our cozy living room. Paige is one of those friends that just gets you.
For her senior photos, we decided to explore Little Italy in San Diego. We bought some blooms from a local flower stand, made a few friends and spent the afternoon having a blast, per usual. Paige recently graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in Child Development and is now headed to Santa Barbara to pursue her dream job. I couldn't be more proud of the women she is!
These two epitomize the idea of soul mates.
One year ago they embarked on the journey of marriage together with a beautiful ceremony in Tacoma, Washington. I was lucky enough to attend their charming wedding and now, a year later, lucky enough to document their first year of marriage! These two have become dear friends to me, and I am continually blessed by the positive light and contagious laughter they have brought into my life. Here's to many many more happy years for the two of you.
Lindsey is one of the sweetest souls I have ever come to know. I was lucky enough to call her a room mate the past year and it was nothing but non-stop laughter getting to live alongside her. I am so proud of Lindsey and her accomplishments. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University, and has since accepted a job at UCLA in the ICU. Beauty and brains, this lady is the real deal. I can't wait to see where life takes this wonderful friend of mine, and I was so honored that she chose me to document such a special time in her life. Congrats!
Every time I visit the Pacific Northwest I find myself in awe of its beauty. The rainy days, the coffee, the atmosphere-there's a kind of peace there that's unlike anywhere else. I always find myself lost in the sea of trees. One of the highlights of this trip for me was venturing to find the Vance Creek Bridge, pictured below.
Here's a glimpse into my adventures around the Olympic Peninsula. Enjoy!
"A thrill of hope; The weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn"
Wishing you all peace + health in the new year!
The Torrey Pines State reserve was the perfect backdrop for Megan & Luca's Engagement Session. Set on a costal cliff overlooking the rest of San Diego, the abundance of trees at Torrey Pines provide a truly unique atmosphere. We took our time exploring the cliffs and beaches for the afternoon and their pictures simply came naturally. Megan & Luca instantly felt like long time friends and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year!
Today I wanted to share a look back at one of my favorite weddings from this past summer. Twinkle lights sparkled as Beth & Scott said I do amongst the trees of Big Bear Lake. Love filled the air as this couple was encouraged by their closest friends and family. I was so honored to be a part of this perfect day!
Today I am overflowing with gratitude for all of my wonderful clients & for the ability to pursue a career in something I absolutely love.
Meet Hannah & Erin, the owners of boutonné and two of the sweetest people ever. They became instant friends when I was lucky enough to represent Darling Magazine & visit them at their studio in the Moniker Wearhouse in Downtown San Diego. Learn more about their beautiful work & what they represent in an interview that ran here on Darling Magazine's blog.
One of the biggest blessing of this past year for me has been being a part of the Darling Magazine team. I love being behind the scenes in creating something so visually beautiful, and for this past Fall Issue I was able to contribute photography as well! Here are a few images from our shoot at a beautiful park in Pasadena. Be sure to snag the Print Issue while you can- they are flying off the shelves! You can find them online here at Darling's Website or at your local Anthropologie.
Mary Jane is graduating from Ontario Christian High School this year & I was lucky enough to hang out with her in the beautiful mountain town of Mount Baldy. We had a blast talking about the anticipation of going to college and all of the amazing times she has ahead of her. Mary Jane's unique & contagious smile made it a breeze to shoot her senior pictures. Take a peek at our session together below!
I had the pleasure of shooting a lovely afternoon wedding at Bate's Nut Farm here in San Diego. The scenery, flowers, neutral tones & dresses paired perfectly with the bride & groom's warmth and love for one another. It was a joyous occasion, accompanied by a pancake brunch. Take a peak into their special day!
Welcoming October, and my most favorite season.
Annie & Davis have the sweetest love story. They're high-school sweethearts who endured four years of cross-country travel during college to be together. As you can see, their love for one another is of a rare & true form. Annie is one of my dear friends, and I had the best time shooting these engagement pictures of them on Fiesta Island in San Diego. I can't wait for their wedding, (which is just a few weeks away) and to see all the adventures life together brings them!
This summer I packed my bags & headed off to the place where all the best dreamers go to dream..Nashville, Tennessee of course!
I was selected to be a part of The Sarah Barlow Internship program, a 5 day workshop where ten photographers from all over the world came to learn about the world behind fashion & music photography. Sarah Barlow ran the internship with her Art Directior Stephen Schofield, and let me tell you, they were two of the most talented, humble & sweet people. I sure was welcomed into the south for the first time with wide open arms. Sarah has been one of my favorite photographers for some time & you may know her work from Taylor Swift's last album RED.
While I was there I had the amazing opportunity to shoot country singer Raelynn, who you may know from the 2nd season of The Voice. She is currently on tour with Miranda Lambert & is signed with Big Machine Records in Nashville. I can't show the images just yet, but they are some of my favorite work so far! As soon as I can, I will be sharing them with you all.
The gallery you see here are images taken by Sarah & Stephen! I highly recommend attending a workshop like this to push yourself & to help deepen your art form. It's amazing the results you can get when you take a leap of faith & leave your comfort zone.
Earlier this summer I was lucky enough to spend my 22nd birthday among the trees. Seattle is my boyfriend’s hometown & we had the best time exploring together, playing in the rain & celebrating.
Aly & I like to spend our time exploring new neighborhoods, drinking lattes and digging through thrift stores. So naturally, we found ourselves wandering around the urban city of East Village to shoot some lifestyle pictures for her portfolio as a Event Designer.
