since moving up to santa barbara this past may -- i have fallen completely in love with the small town charm + undeniable beauty of this city. luckily for me, these two cuties wanted to take their engagement photos at two of my favorite places: the santa barbara county courthouse + butterfly beach in montecito.
their effortless love for one another made the day a total breeze & continues to shine through in the photos. i can't wait for their santa barbara wedding at the el encanto this april!
today i am giddy & excited to share some exciting news... a photo from my recent photoshoot with girl boss ingrid nilsen is featured in the october issue of seventeen magazine! ingrid is one of youtube's best beauty vloggers-- and not to mention one of the sweetest people ever. quirky, hilarious AND talented- it's no wonder this lady has taken the beauty world by storm.
ingrid & i spent the afternoon exploring silverlake (a los angeles favorite of both of ours) drinking coffee, getting flowers and having a total blast. see a few more from the shoot below!
I've been daydreaming of my time in New York City today, so I thought I'd share this fun shoot I did last fall with Brynn of Being Elliot! We explored DUMBO in Brooklyn and spent the entire afternoon laughing together. We collaborated on this shoot for Darling Magazine, where Brynn shares three ways to style a statement coat. You can find the full post here!
He promised her a lifetime where Mondays would always be great.
I have known this sweet couple since college, and I couldn't be more honored to have documented this special time in their story. For their engagement session, we explored Bankers Hill in San Diego, the neighborhood they would call home together and then ended the day at Starlite-- one of their very favorite places. These two share a contagious joy and I can't wait to see where life takes them on their journey together.
Kenzie & Eric were married on a beautiful fall day in La Jolla, California. Families traveled across the country to attend their magical day, and it was nothing short of amazing. Excitement filled their eyes as this long anticipated moment finally became a reality. Their peaceful and kind demeanors were contagious, and their entire day felt like a breeze. I felt honored to be there capturing these truly once in a lifetime moments. A big thanks to my amazing second shooter Suzi Jacobs for capturing their day alongside me! Enjoy a little bit of their day below!
These two. Their wedding day was pure magic. Stephen and Lauren met in college at Point Loma Nazarene University and have been inseparable ever since. Warm summer air filled the Mission Asistencia in Redlands while their love ones gathered to join them as they became husband and wife. Their love for one another radiated and you couldn't help but be filled with joy in their presence. Stephen and Lauren shared heartfelt vows, danced the night away under twinkle lights and it all ended in fireworks (literally). It was such a special day and I was truly honored to be there to capture this moment in time.
Where do I begin with these two. I first met Lauren & Nathan in a coffee shop and instantly I felt as if I had already known them a lifetime. These two together light up any room, and the love they share is contagious. Spend five minutes with them and you are sure to be laughing in no time.
When their special day arrived, my awesome second shooter Robby Cavanaugh and I headed out to the lovely venue of Oak Creek Ranch in Topanga, California. It was the perfect summer day, and the location couldn't of suited them better. Their friends gathered as they watched Lauren and Nathan say their I do's overlooking the beautiful Topanga Canyon. Nathan played his guitar and sang her the same song he had played on their first date, bringing all of their guests to tears, including myself. These two share a truly special kind of love that anyone who has spent any time with them is sure to attest to. They laughed, danced, smiled and were filled with whimsy the entire day. I left that night feeling truly honored that they picked me to help tell their love story.
How gorgeous is this girl?! Paige started off as a room mate that I had just met, and grew into one of my best friends. We spent the past year making daily trips to Peet's Coffee, popping late night popcorn and laughing to the tune of New Girl playing in our cozy living room. Paige is one of those friends that just gets you.
For her senior photos, we decided to explore Little Italy in San Diego. We bought some blooms from a local flower stand, made a few friends and spent the afternoon having a blast, per usual. Paige recently graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a degree in Child Development and is now headed to Santa Barbara to pursue her dream job. I couldn't be more proud of the women she is!
These two epitomize the idea of soul mates.
One year ago they embarked on the journey of marriage together with a beautiful ceremony in Tacoma, Washington. I was lucky enough to attend their charming wedding and now, a year later, lucky enough to document their first year of marriage! These two have become dear friends to me, and I am continually blessed by the positive light and contagious laughter they have brought into my life. Here's to many many more happy years for the two of you.
Lindsey is one of the sweetest souls I have ever come to know. I was lucky enough to call her a room mate the past year and it was nothing but non-stop laughter getting to live alongside her. I am so proud of Lindsey and her accomplishments. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University, and has since accepted a job at UCLA in the ICU. Beauty and brains, this lady is the real deal. I can't wait to see where life takes this wonderful friend of mine, and I was so honored that she chose me to document such a special time in her life. Congrats!
Every time I visit the Pacific Northwest I find myself in awe of its beauty. The rainy days, the coffee, the atmosphere-there's a kind of peace there that's unlike anywhere else. I always find myself lost in the sea of trees. One of the highlights of this trip for me was venturing to find the Vance Creek Bridge, pictured below.
Here's a glimpse into my adventures around the Olympic Peninsula. Enjoy!
"A thrill of hope; The weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn"
Wishing you all peace + health in the new year!
The Torrey Pines State reserve was the perfect backdrop for Megan & Luca's Engagement Session. Set on a costal cliff overlooking the rest of San Diego, the abundance of trees at Torrey Pines provide a truly unique atmosphere. We took our time exploring the cliffs and beaches for the afternoon and their pictures simply came naturally. Megan & Luca instantly felt like long time friends and I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year!
Today I wanted to share a look back at one of my favorite weddings from this past summer. Twinkle lights sparkled as Beth & Scott said I do amongst the trees of Big Bear Lake. Love filled the air as this couple was encouraged by their closest friends and family. I was so honored to be a part of this perfect day!
Today I am overflowing with gratitude for all of my wonderful clients & for the ability to pursue a career in something I absolutely love.
